The Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard is a travel rewards credit card issued by Barclays Bank Delaware for US residents who have great credit. There are 2 versions of this card – one with no annual fee and one with an $89 annual fee (waived the first year).
Both cards are MasterCard, and both reward you with miles for all your purchases. Some of you may be wondering which Barclaycard is right for you, which one will give the most rewards, and is the $89 annual fee for the Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard really worth it? Well I am going to compare the two for you and at the end of this article you will then be able to decide which card is right for you.
Similarities Between the Two Cards:
- You can earn unlimited miles. Each time you make a purchase with your card, you earn miles, and there is no cap to the amount of miles you can earn with your card.
- Earn 10% of your miles when you redeem them for travel, including airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, etc.
- Miles can be redeemed toward statement credit, gift cards and merchandise.
- No foreign transaction fee.
- Complimentary FICO Scores as a benefit to active cardmembers. Opt-in to have instant and convenient access to FICO Scores from your Barclaycard online account.
Now that we looked over some of the similarities between the two cards, lets look at some of the differences.
Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard- Bonus Miles
Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard – (no annual fee):
- Earn up to 20,000 miles. When you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days you will receive 20,000 bonus miles. This equates to $200 off your next travel purchase.
- Earn 2 miles for each dollar you spend on dining and travel. Travel purchases include cruises, airfare, car rentals through agencies, hotels and motels and more. Dining purchases include fast food and restaurant purchases. Which this is a pretty good deal for a no annual fee card, since most cards only give you 1 mile per dollar spent.
- Earn 1 mile on all your other purchases. Every dollar spent on your card you will receive a 1 mile reward. So the more you swipe that card the more miles you earn!
- 0% introductory APR on purchases for the first 12 months after account opening. After that, variable APR, currently 14.99% or 18.99%, based upon your creditworthiness.

Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard – ($89 annual fee):
- Earn 2 miles per dollar on all your purchases. For every dollar you spend on your card, you will get 2 miles, which is double the miles on everything compared to the no annual fee card.
- You can earn up to 40,000 bonus miles. You will receive 40,000 miles when spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months. These 40,000 bonus miles equate to $400 off your next travel purchase.
- 0% introductory APR on purchases for the first 12 months after account opening. After that, variable APR, currently 14.99% or 18.99%, based upon your creditworthiness.
- Lastly you will have to pay an annual fee of $89. So is this annual fee truly worth it? You will have to spend at least $4,500 a year on your card just to cancel out this annual fee. Which means you really have to spend $4.500 a year to really reap the rewards.
